2 Methods to View PowerPoint on Apple TV

Apple TV is a digital media receiver which allows you to play 1080p HD videos from iTunes and Netflix, enjoy music and photos from iCloud, and use AirPlay to stream from your iOS devices. Display PowerPoint on Apple TV is not difficult, but not as straight forward as you may think neither. If you need to view PowerPoint presentations on Apple TV, the following two methods would be helpful to you.

Method 1: View PowerPoint on Apple TV as images

This method will work if you have get the following prepared:

1. Microsoft PowerPoint
2. iPhoto
3. iTunes
4. Apple TV

Step 1: Go to File -> Save As and select JPG, PNG or GIF from the Format drop down list. This will export each slide as an image.

Step 2: Open up iTunes, go to the iTunes Store and log in with the same account you currently use on your Apple TV.

Step 3: Open up iPhoto, create a new album, and import the photos.

Step 4: Go to File -> Export, choose Slideshow, and click the Apple TV column to optimize the images for display on the Apple TV. Make sure you have check the Automatically send slideshow to iTunes option.

Step 5: To view your “presentation” on the Apple TV, select the synced album from the Apple TV’s Photos menu.

Method 2: View PowerPoint on Apple TV as video

Have you noticed that, in the method above when you save PowerPoint slides as images, how about the original PowerPoint animations, transitions, embedded music and video clips? Yes, they have all been removed. To play PowerPoint presentations on Apple TV with all the original effects above, the best and only way for now is to convert PowerPoint to video format that Apple TV support, which should be in MP4 or MOV format.

Add PowerPoint files.

Click the Add button and select the desired PowerPoint files to import. You can add as many PowerPoint files to this program as you want to convert them all to Apple TV video at once.

Select output video format.

Click the Profile frame and choose Apple TV MP4 format as the output video format. Set an Output folder for the converted MP4 video so that you could find it easily.

Convert PowerPoint to Apple TV video.

When all the settings are done, click Start to convert PowerPoint to Apple TV. During the conversion, you can preview the output MP4 video in real time.
